Secondary Transfer 2021
Children who are currently in Year 6 (born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010), who will start secondary school in Hackney in September 2021, need to apply online for a place at their preferred secondary schools. This process is managed by Hackney Education and you will need to submit your application via eAdmissions before 23 October 2020.
Applications submitted after the deadline are not processed by Hackney Education and may result in your child being allocated a place at a Hackney secondary school not on your preferred list.

The Application Process
Step One - Decide the order of your preferences
Use the Hackney Schools Directory to search for information about Hackney secondary schools, including location and travel routes. You can apply for up to six schools in order of preference, across different London boroughs. We recommend that you should apply to multiple schools, as only including one school on your application does not make it more likely that you will be offered a place at your first choice.
You can also find out more information about specific secondary schools when they host open events for you to attend. You can access information about Hackney secondary school open events this academic year by clicking here. Please note, before attending open events, check the school's website or telephone in advance as events may be postponed or run in an alternative format depending on current government guidance regarding large gatherings.
Schools in other boroughs will also be running similar events if you are interested in sending your child to a school out-of-borough.
Step Two - Get an email address
You will need an email address in order to make the application (before 23 October 2020) and view the outcome of your application (in March 2021). If you don't have one, you can go to www.googlemail.com and 'create an account'.
Step Three - Apply online using eAdmissions
Sign in or create a new account on eAdmissions and complete your application. If you have applied for an older child in the last 3 years you will already have an account. You can use the email and password from your previous application to sign in.
A more detailed step-by-step guide to completing the application can be found on page 6 of the Secondary Transfer Guide published by Hackney Education.
Ensure that you click to submit the application once you have finished. You will receive a confirmation email with your application reference number.
Step Four - Forward your confirmation email to us
Please email a record of your confirmation email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This will enable us to keep track of outstanding applications.
National Offer Day - 1 March 2021
You will receive an email on 1 March 2021 (National Offer Day) notifying you of the outcome of your application and the school place you have been offered. You will then have until 15 March 2021 to respond to your offer.
If you have any further queries or would like support from the school in completing your application please get in touch via the school office.
For more information about how school places are allocated please refer to the Secondary Transfer Guide.
Children with an EHCP
If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), either confirmed or issued in draft before the application deadline, you will go through a separate transfer process. You will get a separate application form to complete from the EHCP team.
We will be in touch with you to support you with the process.
