Happy International Day of Play!
Today, despite the rain, we celebrated International Day of Play by having an extra 31 minutes of playtime!
The United Nations has designated 11 June as the International Day of Play. This date marks a significant milestone in efforts to prioritise play as a fundamental right for every child, as enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This year’s campaign theme is "Protect play, protect childhood".
The children played games like "What's the Time Mr Wolf," and "Duck, Duck, Goose," with their peers and teaching staff and had a great time!
Year 3 even got involved whilst on their trip to Shoeburyness Beach!

Reception Children's Visit to the Sea Life London Aquarium
As part of our commitment to give children a range of experiences throughout their time at London Fields, our Reception children visited the Sea Life London Aquarium.
They were excited to travel to central London, taking in the sights from the coach. The trip gave children the opportunity to explore life beneath the seas and oceans, inspiring curiosity about the natural world. Our Reception pupils were a credit to the school throughout the day, showing excellent behaviour and enthusiasm as they explored the exhibits and discovered a variety of marine species.
The children also enjoyed a picnic lunch and time to play at Jubilee Gardens before returning to school.
We are grateful to FOLF for contributing towards the cost of the trip and making this experience possible, and to the parents who accompanied us.
A special thank you to all the school staff who, led by our Headteacher Sharon, helped make this wonderful day possible for the children.
Ilori class explore Epping Forest
Ilori class had the best time on their trip to The Hive at Epping Forest. The children (and Chrissie!) were very courageous as they held some fascinating animals, such as a corn snake, a fire salamander and even a hissing cockroach! After their delicious picnic they explored the forest; building dens, listening to the birds and admiring the trees, before getting the coach back to school.

Trip to The Hive
What a lovely trip! We started the day with mindfulness in the forest, and the children took time to listen and look at all the different things they could see and hear. They then did some tree rubbings and looked for their “tree twin”, a tree in the forest with similar features to their hands. After lunch in the sun and a play, we sat down to meet some fascinating animals. We were all so proud of how the children behaved and participated. What a day to remember!

Year 6's bakery is a huge success!
This morning, year 6 finally got to open their Bakery. It proved to be a huge success! The children have been working hard designing a business, creating a profitable product with enticing packaging and making their cupcakes to sell. Today was the day that members of the public (thank you parents!) were finally able to purchase the much anticipated cakes. Negotiations were fierce and varied and those who held out until the closing of the shop snapped up some bargains! Profits are currently being calculated but the children have made over £150 as well as negotiating nearly an hour of extra playtime - we definitely have some future CEOs amongst us! Well done for all your hard work year 6.

Reception writing success!
It is fantastic to see the progress our Reception children are making in their writing. Their confidence and independence continue to grow and many chidlren are now choosing to indepenently write during continuous provision.
The children use their phonics knowledge to write words using phonetically plausible spellings and love recording their ideas.
We love seeing our chidlren develop a genuinle love of learning!
TFL Explorers Ambassador Summer Seminar
Four Year 5 children (part of the Eco Team) attended the TFL Explorers Ambassador Summer Seminar on Thusday, 11th of June, to help maintain our Gold Travel for Life accreditation.
During the event, the chidlren learned how to plan an exciting Air Quality Day at school (watch this space for more details!). They also developed their communicaiton and presentation skills as they prepared and delivered an assembly speech. They children were fantatsic and represented our shcool brilliantly. Their hard work paid off, as they were one of 3 schools selected to present their speech to all the other schools in attendance.
Their catchy slogan was "Clean Air Everywhere. Think, Test, Do!"
We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and confidence! Well done, London Fields Primary School
