Chicks in Year 5!
Year 5 have been lucky to look after some chicks as part of their Science learning! It was amazing to be able to witness them hatch and grow into fascinating creatures that they are. We took on the responsibility of caring, cleaning and feeding them! Please ask us about our time with the chicks!
Ready, Set...Go!
This week the children in Nursery have started practicing for Sports Day. From balancing beanbags to running, jumping, and weaving through obstacles, children are strengthening their coordination, control, and confidence in movement. They have been assigned their team colours and are very excited to see you there on 20th May cheering from the sidelines!
Happy International Day of Play!
Today, despite the rain, we celebrated International Day of Play by having an extra 31 minutes of playtime!
The United Nations has designated 11 June as the International Day of Play. This date marks a significant milestone in efforts to prioritise play as a fundamental right for every child, as enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This year’s campaign theme is "Protect play, protect childhood".
The children played games like "What's the Time Mr Wolf," and "Duck, Duck, Goose," with their peers and teaching staff and had a great time!
Year 3 even got involved whilst on their trip to Shoeburyness Beach!

Reception Children's Visit to the Sea Life London Aquarium
As part of our commitment to give children a range of experiences throughout their time at London Fields, our Reception children visited the Sea Life London Aquarium.
They were excited to travel to central London, taking in the sights from the coach. The trip gave children the opportunity to explore life beneath the seas and oceans, inspiring curiosity about the natural world. Our Reception pupils were a credit to the school throughout the day, showing excellent behaviour and enthusiasm as they explored the exhibits and discovered a variety of marine species.
The children also enjoyed a picnic lunch and time to play at Jubilee Gardens before returning to school.
We are grateful to FOLF for contributing towards the cost of the trip and making this experience possible, and to the parents who accompanied us.
A special thank you to all the school staff who, led by our Headteacher Sharon, helped make this wonderful day possible for the children.
Weather reports in Year 2!
We are learning all about weather and climate in Geography. Today, we learnt about mild and extreme types of weather before becoming meteorologists and presenting a weather report ourselves.

Amazing fruit and vegetable portraits in Year 2!
Today we looked at the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, then created our own portraits using fruit and vegetables. The children enjoyed making unique and expressive portraits. Make sure you ask them about their work and see if they can remember Arcimboldo’s name!

Chicks in Year 2
Year 2 have been lucky to look after some chicks as part of their Science learning about life cycles! It was amazing to witness them hatch and grow into the fascinating creatures that they are. The children took on the responsibility of caring for, cleaning, and feeding them! The children were sad to see them go, so they wrote some lovely cards which have been sent to the chicks’ new home.

Reception children meet the chicks!
Reception children were so lucky to receive a visit from the chicks that hatched with the help and supervision of the Year 2 children.
The children loved listening to the chicks chirping and choosing their favourite ones. The whole class was quiet and sensible to make sure the chicks did not get scared, and they loved watching them play. Everyone thought the chicks were very, very cute and cannot wait to be in Year 2 so they can watch chicks hatch one day too!
Seeing the chicks and talking about their lifecycle perfectly complemented the children's learning this half term - our planet in space and what makes Earth so special. The children have already explored the life cycles of trees and ladybirds, so it was a wonderful experience for them to also see what chickens look like as babies.
