Our aim is to create learners who can reflect, question, wonder, think, connect, be self-aware and be determined. We aim to move towards this by providing opportunities for the children to build knowledge, make meaning and apply understanding. We believe that by doing so we will help children to develop a sense of belonging to and contributing to a better world and ensure that they can think well and feel well.

Geography In Action Across The School
This week, as part of the teacher's CPD programme, teachers broke off into small groups and celebrated the subject of Geography across the school. Evidence of learning was shared from Nursery all the way through to Year 6. Teachers tracked the progression in the subject, evaluating how activities in Early Years focusing on developing an understanding of the world provides the foundation for the Geography curriculum in Year 1 and beyond and how the curriculum builds up knowledge around the subject's Big Ideas (see the website page about how we teach Geography at London Field Primary).
This is My Place.....a sense of belonging
A huge thank you to everyone who shared in Place2Be's Mental Health Week. The theme of the week was 'This is My Place....' and explored the vital role of belonging in our mental health and wellbeing. In our assemblies this week, we have discussed how a sense of belonging, whether in our families, schools, peer groups or wider communities, is a fundamental human need. It helps us feel secure, supported and ready to learn and grow. We know that when children truly belong, they are more likely to have positive mental health, build healthy relationships, and believe in their ability to make a difference.
It was lovely this week that so many of you were able to share how you feel you belong to our wonderful school community. London Fields Primary school is EVERYONE'S place and we will stay committed to ensuring we all feel a sense of belonging in our school community.

World Book Day in Year 6
Year 6 had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day with a range of activities focused on sharing and enjoying books.
To start the day, the classroom was filled with lots of different book characters. Each pupil had the opportunity to introduce themselves in character, pretending to be the character from their book. The class asked them questions so they could tell us more about themselves, the book they are from, and what happens in their story. They also explained why they would recommend their book to others. It was fantastic to see how confidently everyone spoke and how well they understood their characters and stories.
Later, we played a game of Book Bingo. Working with a partner, pupils had to find books they had read that matched different categories on the bingo board. Some of the categories included finding a book that was funny, based on a true story, or a book that was about friendship. This encouraged lots of discussion as pupils shared the books they had read and talked about their favourite stories.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable day that celebrated reading and gave everyone the chance to share books they love with their classmates.

Happy World Book Day!
Happy Holi
In our recent assemblies, we have developed our knowledge about the Hindu festival of Holi. Millions of people are celebrating Holi, the festival of colours, spring and love in India and across the world today. We learned that the spring festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, and also marks the end of winter.
We explored how Holi celebrations can include people gathering in the streets and throwing colours on each other and lighting bonfires the evening before Holi in the belief this will destroy the bad so that good can triumph.
While learning about Holi, we made lots of connnections to other religious festivals and other celebrations. We all agreed that coming together, as a community, to celebrate events can make people feel very happy and support a sense of belonging.
Some children went home and carried out their own independent research about Holi. They shared with their classes drawings and factfiles about the festival- everyone was very impressed with their additional learning!
Spanish Art!
In Spanish this half term, Year 4 are learning about various Spanish Artists and how to communicate whether they like (me gusta) or do not like (no me gusta) different artistic styles.
Year 3 are learning to be beekeepers!
