FOLF AGM

28 January 2020 (by Helen Fitzpatrick (admin))

Friends of London Fields parents association would like to announce their upcoming Annual General Meeting

Dear Parents/Carers,

Every year we hold an annual general meeting for the Friends of London Fields. We would love to see as many parents and carers there as possible. The meeting will be held at school on Thursday January 30th at 7.30PM. FoLF is run by 14 committee members and Ms. Tyson. There will be some spaces coming up this year so if you would like to join the committee please email us: folf@londonfields.hackney.sch.uk. It would be great to get some more Dads involved too.

2019 was another exciting year at London Fields. FoLF arranged events at the school to bring our community together and helped to raise extra money for amazing events such as the Matthew Bourne dance project and the fantastic new kitchen. The committee is friendly and open and a great opportunity to get involved in helping the school and it is not a big commitment. If everyone does a little bit then we can achieve so much.

The meeting is a great opportunity to make suggestions; if you have any ideas that you would like to put forward then we would love to hear them.

Here is some extra information:

What is the FOLF committee?

The parents’ association, Friends of London Fields, is run by a small committee of parents/carers and the Head, Caroline Tyson.  You don't have to be on the committee to suggest ideas, or to lead on or help at an event - but being on the committee means you get more involved in deciding what activities we do and how to spend the money raised.

What does being on the committee involve?

We meet at least once a term to plan events and fundraising activities and agree the school projects to support. The meetings usually take place after school, but we hold them at different times to suit people. You don’t have to come to every meeting - we also email regularly to discuss ideas and plan events. Committee members often take a lead in organising an event, or helping out at other events, but you can do as little or as much as you can.  There are some specific roles on the committee including a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer – and you may be interested in taking on one of these, please let us know if you would like any more information.

How do I join the committee?

If you would like to join the committee, please let us know either before the AGM or at the meeting itself. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the AGM, you can still put your name forward.  The size of the committee is 14 members and Ms. Tyson.  The committee is chosen each year, so you would join for a year, but can stand down at any time and can stand again at the next AGM.  If you are interested in joining, please email us at folf@londonfields.hackney.sch.uk.

Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you at this year’s AGM on 30th January, 7.30PM.

Kindest regards from the current FoLF committee:

Tara (Inca Year 3), Martha (Dot Year 3 Cambus Reception), Penny (May Year 5), Sarah (Thea Year 6), Abbey (Ilyas Year 1, Adam Year 5), Matt (Albert Year 3, Etta Year 1), Stephanie (Eloisa Year 4, Marlena Reception), Kylie (Gruff Year 4, Mabli Year 3), Toby (Tess Year 1), Russell (Aurelius Year 1), Caroline (Silas Year 1), Catalina (Elias Year 1, Umi Nursery)
