On Monday, twelve lucky Reception children were honoured to be invited by UBS to the Chelsea Flower Show for its exclusive Opening and Press Day – a truly special experience!

Our first stop was the incredible Moment of Reflection installation, designed by Maximilian Designs in collaboration with RHS and UBS, and the main attraction in the Floral Marquee. The installation is designed to take people through different environments, evoking different emotions from space to space. The children took part in a scavenger hunt, searching for colourful flowers and various plants, and admiring the beauty around them. They met the designer himself and had the opportunity to ask questions and share how much they enjoyed the space.

The children also had the pleasure of meeting Paul, the craftsman who built the stone wall featured in the installation. He shared some fascinating facts: did you know stone walls often have a lunky hole at the bottom to let small animals pass through? He also explained how a squeeze stile works and we all had a go imagining our own versions.

Inspired by what they saw, the children became little designers themselves, sketching their own wall ideas and drawing their favourite flowers from the exhibit.

The excitement didn’t stop there! We explored the beautiful grounds of the Chelsea Flower Show, discovering a strawberry-themed installation, a delightful Dog Garden, a rainforest-themed garden featuring a royal fern from Wales and many magical water features. 

Throughout the day, we took lots of photos, met many smiling faces, and were warmly invited to explore numerous other beautiful exhibits.

What a fantastic day it was!
