Reception's first trip to Hackney School of Food12 May 2025 (by Natalie (nski)) |
On Thursday, our Reception children had their very first visit to the Hackney School of Food and what a wonderful day it was! The children were full of excitement as they boarded the bus, only their second time travelling through London together.
Once at Hackney School of Food, we were welcomed into the beautiful garden where the children took part in four exciting carousel activities. These hands-on experiences helped them explore the journey of food, from planting seeds, to observing how fruits and vegetables grow, and even tasting some of the fresh produce from the garden. The garden had cherry, apricot and apple trees, gooseberries, red currants, strawberries, chives, sorrel and many other vegetable, fruit and plants. It even had chickens, which the children took turns in feeding.
Upon their return to school, the children had a lovely picnic outdoors, encouraging each other to eat their fruits and vegetables.
