A Y6 child who was walking in the corridor with the t-shirt she had designed and made, bumped into a Y5 child who stopped her and said "Has that t-shirt been inspired by Salvador Dali, we have just been learning about him in Y5?" The Y6 child replied with "Yes!" .....and they talked about Dali's melting clock faces!

As part of their art topic, Art and Fashion, Y6 have explored how artists have provided inspiration for fashion designers. The Y6 children learned about specific fashion designers who have been influenced by particular artists. The Y6 children reflected on artists and artisans they have studied during their time at London Fields and used this knowledge to inspire their t-shirt designs. They were taught some new textiles skills such as blanket and chain stitch which they could use alongside previously taught textiles skills to create original and exciting t-shirt designs. The end results were great and it was great that the inspiration behind their t-shirt could be spotted by other children in the school!
