Year 4 become Portrait Artists!18 October 2023 (by woodan (awoodan)) |
This week, we have been learning all about the history of Royal figures in Art. During the Tudor period, Royal Portraits became popular as people wanted to show their allegiance to the crown! We also looked at different types of portraits, from State to Formal. We then explored a range of Artists such as the famous Germain painter- Hans Holbein the Younger. After this, we looked at Portraits by more contemporary Artists such as Kehinde Wiley and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. We discussed their choices of colour and the messages they wanted to convey through their portraits. We have spent the remaining of the week creating our own portraits on inspirational people, gaining inspiration from the Greats!
