Observing changes in nature at Forest School

24 February 2023 (by Natalie Reception (nski))

This week the children in Reception started a project that they will work on over the next few months. The children took a few photos of the trees from their perspective and height, and made a note of the area. Every week a group of children will take a photo in the same spot to see how the tree changes over time. We'll make all the photos into a booklet and bring it with us to all our Forest School sessions. This will help us see the growth on the tree branches over time.

We had a lovely half term holiday, so we took our time to remind ourselves of our Forest School rules. Did you know that one of our rules says that you can play with all the sticks and branches in the site, but you must remember to measure it against your arm first. If it's longer then your arm, you must drag it with one end touching the ground. If it's shorter than your arm, you can wave it around, but you must make sure there is nobody else around you. It's a great rule to keep us and our friends safe during play!

We also reconnected with our old friends and started new friendships. And as always, we continued to explore our site, building on our skills and enjoying being surrounded by nature.
