Nursery spent their last Forest School session before the break so beautifully engaged with their surroundings. We noticed so many new flowers, with dandelions and daisies being the most well known amongst the children. Summer is definitely on its way!

We even broke one of the Forest School rules and allowed the children to carefully pick flowers to use in their activities. Mud cakes were beautifully decorated with tiny flowers, and a group of children wore fantastic sticky weed crowns with daisies woven in.

A handful of children were curious about nettles, so we practised picking them without breaking their fine hairs by pinching the leaves firmly. We rinsed the leaves and made nettle tea. For fear of being stung on their tongues, most children declined the drink though, but were still intrigued to hear that nettles are actually as healthy as spinach and can be used in cooking.

We hope all our families get a chance to have a wander in some wild space over the holidays. Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who are helping us make Forest School possible. We can't wait to see what changes await us upon our return next term!
