Year Six
World Book Day in Year 6
Year 6 had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day with a range of activities focused on sharing and enjoying books.
To start the day, the classroom was filled with lots of different book characters. Each pupil had the opportunity to introduce themselves in character, pretending to be the character from their book. The class asked them questions so they could tell us more about themselves, the book they are from, and what happens in their story. They also explained why they would recommend their book to others. It was fantastic to see how confidently everyone spoke and how well they understood their characters and stories.
Later, we played a game of Book Bingo. Working with a partner, pupils had to find books they had read that matched different categories on the bingo board. Some of the categories included finding a book that was funny, based on a true story, or a book that was about friendship. This encouraged lots of discussion as pupils shared the books they had read and talked about their favourite stories.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable day that celebrated reading and gave everyone the chance to share books they love with their classmates.
Year 6 visits the Science Museum!
Year 6 had an exciting visit to the Wonderlab at the Science Museum, where we explored science through hands-on activities. We learned about light by investigating reflections, colours and shadows; we used our previous knowledge of friction by sliding down different slides to see how speed changed and we created circuits linking to our knowledge of electricity. We had so much fun!
The adventurers return!
Year 6 has had an amazing few days on Mersea Island and have tried so many new activities. We have been so impressed with their resilience and determination to try so many new things. The disco was an absolute highlight - so much fun!
The souvenir t-shirts are amazing and a real treat that the year 6s earned themselves through all their fundraising for the trip - well done year 6 and thank you to all the parents who helped!
