Year Two
Ilori class explore Epping Forest
Ilori class had the best time on their trip to The Hive at Epping Forest. The children (and Chrissie!) were very courageous as they held some fascinating animals, such as a corn snake, a fire salamander and even a hissing cockroach! After their delicious picnic they explored the forest; building dens, listening to the birds and admiring the trees, before getting the coach back to school.
Trip to The Hive
What a lovely trip! We started the day with mindfulness in the forest, and the children took time to listen and look at all the different things they could see and hear. They then did some tree rubbings and looked for their “tree twin”, a tree in the forest with similar features to their hands. After lunch in the sun and a play, we sat down to meet some fascinating animals. We were all so proud of how the children behaved and participated. What a day to remember!
Year 2 spreadsheet superstars!
For the final Computing topic, Year 2 have been learning how to input data into spreadsheets. They have learnt all about rows, columns and cells, and how to edit spreadsheets to make their information clearer and easier to read.
Weather reports in Year 2!
We are learning all about weather and climate in Geography. Today, we learnt about mild and extreme types of weather before becoming meteorologists and presenting a weather report ourselves.
Amazing fruit and vegetable portraits in Year 2!
Today we looked at the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, then created our own portraits using fruit and vegetables. The children enjoyed making unique and expressive portraits. Make sure you ask them about their work and see if they can remember Arcimboldo’s name!
Chicks in Year 2
Year 2 have been lucky to look after some chicks as part of their Science learning about life cycles! It was amazing to witness them hatch and grow into the fascinating creatures that they are. The children took on the responsibility of caring for, cleaning, and feeding them! The children were sad to see them go, so they wrote some lovely cards which have been sent to the chicks’ new home.
