Year One
Year 1 go wild at the Zoo!
As part of our Science topic "Where do I fit in?", Year 1 spent a glorious day exploring London Zoo last week. We saw so many animals including tigers, komodo dragons, and penguins! We noticed all their different traits and features and learned some new facts about our favourite animals too! Thank you to all the parents and carers that came along to support us.
Year 1 start Computing!
Last week, Year 1 began their "Introduction to Computing" topic. We learned about what technology could be and where we might find computers at school and in the world around us. We also learned the different parts of a PC and practised logging on and off the school computers. Most importantly we learned to keep personal information safe and not to share it with others online or offline.
Exploring Capacity in Year 1
Year 1 have been busy exploring the capacity of different containers as part of their maths learning.
Seaside Artists
In our Art topic this week Year 1 have been learning about Claude Monet's impressionist paintings inspired by the seaside. We have been making quick sketches of our playground like Monet, and learning how warm and cool colours are used by artists to create different effects and depict landscapes. We then designed our own interpretation of a seascape and transformed it into a piece of weaving.
Year 1 Scientists!
Year 1 have been busy investigating different materials as part of our first Science topic. We have learned to identify different materials and classify objects according to their materials. We are really enjoying learning both in our outdoor learning area and in the classroom and are excited to start our first experiment next week.
The Magical Winter Concert
Children in EYFS and KS1 took the stage last week to perform a number of festive pieces. Performing to the school during dress rehearsals and then again to families and carers, we were so impressed with the confidence and skill in which the children performed. From Jingle Bell Rock to Frosty the Snowman, the children sung with real enthusiasm and looked fabulous in their carefully crafted crowns too! A huge well done to everyone who took part.
